Going on vacation? Here’s how to prepare on Instagram

If you watch my Instagram stories, you may have seen that I was on vacation this week!

Well, technically I was in Miami for the purpose of walking in my graduation ceremony, but you get the idea.

At this point, posting on Instagram should be a routine part of your marketing strategy, especially when you run a business.

But what should you do when you go on vacation? Odds are, you probably don’t want to worry about your next IG post while laying on your beach towel.

So, here are 6 simple ideas that you can use to prepare for your next vacation:

  1. 1. Pre-film your Reels

A few days before you leave for your trip, set aside some time to film and edit as many Reels as you’d like to post during your vacation.

For example, I typically post 1-2x a day, so I pre-filmed and edited 10 Reels for my 6-day vacation.

By doing this, you won’t have to constantly worry about running out of content. Everything will already be created and ready to go!

2. Repost some “oldies but goodies”

If you don’t have time to create new content, take one of your previously posted Reels, copy the link, and head over to InstaFinsta.com to download it without the watermark.

You can learn how to do this HERE

Once it’s saved, simply post it to your feed again! Odds are, your audience won’t even remember seeing it in the first place! You can do this with images and carousel posts, as well.

3. Create a posting schedule

Look at your vacation itinerary and find the best days and times to squeeze in a quick post! My best tip is to simply post in the morning before you begin your daily activities.

4. Opt for an auto-poster

Don’t want to even think about posting? You can download an app like “Later” or “Preview” (or head over to Meta’s Business Suite) to schedule your posts to automatically upload onto your page! Keep in mind that this only works for photos, not Reels.

5. Maybe it’s time for some assistance

If you already have a virtual assistant or social media manager, it is SO helpful to use them during your vacation!

Think about it – they would just be in charge of posting and engaging on your page every day! This is a great option if you’re looking to stay totally hands-off of social, while still posting consistently.

6. Or…maybe you just need a relaxing break

Listen, there is no judgement if you just need a vacation. Instagram will still be here when you get back from paradise!

But as an extra pro tip: If you do take a few days off of the ‘gram, make sure your first post back is “A+” content to help get your IG party restarted and boost that engagement right off the bat!

Whether you decide to post on your own, use an auto-poster, hire help, or simply take a break, going on vacation is your time to RELAX and unwind. Instagram should be the last of your worries, which is why I always recommend preparing BEFORE you leave.
