New Instagram update full screen photos and Reels

Instagram changes the feed…again.

This new Instagram announcement has lead to some mixed emotions amongst Creators

Guess what? There’s been yet another update in the Instagram universe.

(As if we needed any more changes)

And this newest announcement has been met with some pretty mixed opinions.

To sum it up, Instagram is currently testing a new, immersive experience for viewing posts in the home feed.

The biggest difference?

Photos will now be seen as full-screen (9×16) just like Reels.

The idea behind this change is to make Instagram even more mobile-friendly by allowing us to post even taller photos and videos than ever before.

But as I said earlier, this change has been met with a few mixed reactions. Check out this comment from a verified user that has been a part of the latest test group:

It seems as though Creators are mainly concerned that this change will hurt their engagement and reduce how many people read the captions of their posts.

It’s no shock that captions have been becoming less and less of a priority, especially for Reels, so do we think that this new shift will make captions almost irrelevant to the viewer?

I’d love to hear your thoughts:

  • What do you think of this upcoming change?

  • Do you like the idea of full-screen photos – or are you a fan of the more traditional look?

This new Instagram experience will be rolling out soon, so stay tuned!

As always, keep keeping Instagram fun and I’ll see you on the ‘gram!
